Ever since the premiere of Sex and the City back in 1999, TV producers have been trying to recreate the idea of an iconic girl gang. From Girls to Broad City this sex-positive, fashionista series launched a revolution in the portrayal of female friendships on TV. We were all depressed after the sixth and final season ended, and the movies just didn’t do these gals justice. So naturally, we all freaked out when it was announced that the girls would be together once again for a new SATC reunion. Not an episode — an entirely new series.
They tried to do a kind of prequel to Carrie’s life in the city with 2013 prequel The Carrie Diaries, but it ended up being a flop and more catered to teen audiences. Luckily, this nostalgic for the late 90s/early 2000s show will get to see their favorite actresses back together on the silver screen again.
According to the New York Post, HBO Max will be broadcasting the limited series with Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristen Davis all making a return as Carrie, Miranda, and Charlotte. Unfortunately, Kim Cattrall will not be returning as Samantha. If you don’t already know, Cattrall had some serious beef with the rest of the cast members and was a notorious drama queen that the crew didn’t exactly enjoy working with.
