Lacking Inspiration? Here Are 10 Tips on Where To Find It

Having any type of creative blockage, whether it has to do with work or art (the same thing, for some of us), is the ultimate worst. Luckily, there are endless sources of inspiration surrounding us – we just need to tap into them!

Put a pot of coffee or tea on – some caffeine and a cozy beverage is the key to many things, is it not? Go with bulletproof coffee if you’re seriously lacking in inspiration – it’s said to enhance focus and motivation.

Eat a healthy snack or meal consisting of brain foods. Salmon, avocado and blueberries are amazing options, while junk food might hamper your creativity and drive.

Call your friend who is amazing at motivational speeches and uplifting you – a ten minute pep talk from someone who knows you can rally do wonders. You’re not a loser if you reach out to your mom for this one!’’

Turn the TV off and sign out of social media accounts. Social procrastination can be really deadening to inspiration.

If you need a break from thinking and trying to get inspired, do it in a mindful way which can actually bring inspiration. Light some aromatherapy candles, go for a quick run, or meditate to make sure you’re in the right headspace.

Put on your favorite music. A gym playlist or something to get you pumped up is preferable to any emo tracks. Music can invoke and release a ton of blocked emotions and ideas.

Listen to a TED talk! The energy within TED talks always seems to ignite a fire within ourselves that reminds us that we can take on the world. For a quick confidence boost, peruse the TED archives.

Get away from your desk and instead go somewhere spontaneous that could bring about inspiration, such as a coffeeshop, public park or museum. Sometimes simply getting out of the house does wonders.

Go to the library or your local bookshop. It’s free and it’s filled with luminous creativity and innovation! Delve into the pages of any section you want to flip through fresh ideas or learn about something new. A tangent could lead somewhere beautiful.

Indulge in acts of kindness or watch strangers help other strangers. When we see moldy food or videos of bad acts being done, we feel absolutely terrible, but the opposite (watching uplifting acts of goodness) can really lift your mood and inspire you.
